Homestead man charged with third count of vehicle burglary

Islamorada – A Homestead man already in jail for two vehicle burglaries in the parking lot of  a Key Largo restaurant has been charged with a third vehicle burglary.

39 year old Fernando Ovalle is accused of burglarizing a vehicle in the parking lot of Robbie’s Marina on April 10th. The victims, a family from Pompano Beach, Florida, told Deputy Todd Wyatt they went out on a boat trip and returned to find a  number of items gone from their 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe. Some of those items – a cell phone, aluminum briefcase and laptop computer – were found at Ovalle’s residence in Homestead.

More charges against Ovalle are anticipated. Detectives say they believe he is linked to at least 19 vehicle burglaries in the upper Keys. They are continuing their investigations, tracing the ownership of property seized during a search of the Homestead residence.

Ovalle is currently charged with three counts each of burglary and grand theft. The total amount of his bond so far is $140,000.00.
