Search warrant in Layton

Layton - Sheriff's Special Investigations Detectives served a search warrant at 9:30 a.m. today on a house in Layton suspected of drug activity.

The warrant was served at 119 Long Key Lake Dr. Unit 3.  Detectives received information from road patrol deputies that they noticed the smell of marijuana from this location. Detectives made contact with George Mitchell Allen at his front door. When he answered the door, detectives were overwhelmed with the odor of marijuana coming from inside. They were able to obtain a search warrant for the residence. A search revealed two rooms and three closets being used to cultivate a total of 42 marijuana plants. The search also turned up approximately 3 pounds of processed marijuana, some that was pre-packaged for sale.

Allen was charged with cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, and possession of drug paraphernalia and he was booked into jail. Border Patrol assisted in the investigation.
