Stabbing in Marathon

Marathon – A man was airlifted to a Miami hospital after being stabbed Friday evening.

Witnesses say they saw the victim, Francisco Alvarez, driving a white Chevrolet pickup truck in the parking lot of D & D Seafood on Coco Plum Road just before 6 p.m. They told Deputy Danielle Malone the suspect was walking on the bike path when it looked like Alvarez tried to hit him with the truck.

The victim then reportedly parked the truck, got out and a confrontation ensued between the two men. The victim swung his fists at the suspect; the suspect then reached into his pocket and pulled out a knife. The suspect swung the knife, stabbing the victim in the area of his shoulder and neck.

The victim reportedly began running away with the suspect chasing him. The victim was found about a quarter mile away, down Coco Plum Road. The suspect fled the scene on a moped.

The victim was airlifted to Kendall Regional Medical Center in Miami for treatment of his injuries. The suspect is still at large. Investigations continue.
