Stock Island – A Stock Island man caught burglarizing a vehicle Thursday afternoon was arrested.
Deputy Kim Trullender responded to reports a man had burglarized a car and was now fleeing on foot down Suncrest Avenue at 4:30 p.m. When he arrived, the owner of a vehicle repair business was detaining a man he said he caught in the act of burglarizing a Lincoln Aviator parked at his business.
The suspect at first identified himself as Jose Fernandez; he later admitted this name was false. He was finally identified as 30 year old Daniel Rodriguez. He could give no explanation as to why he’d been inside the vehicle that did not belong to him. A large amount of change was found in his pocket.
He was placed under arrest for vehicle burglary and giving a false name to a law enforcement officer. Once at the jail, a check on his name revealed five outstanding warrants for writing bad checks. He was also charged with those warrants and was booked into jail.
