Plantation Key – A Miami man was charged with a residential burglary after his fingerprints were found at the scene.
The burglary took place in February of 2011 at a home on Bessie Road. The homeowner was sleeping in the home when the crime occurred. When he woke the next morning, he found a window and a sliding glass door open. He then found his wallet, a small safe, two guns and cash missing from his home.
Detectives Barney Sajdak and Ralph Williams responded to the home and conducted an investigation, finding fingerprints on the sliding glass door, and on the plastic wrapping from some duct tape found on the floor of the home. They sent the fingerprints to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for database comparison.
In September, FDLE identified the prints as coming from 20 year old Arnold Junior Valdes, of Miami. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On Wednesday, he was booked into the Monroe County jail on the warrant, charged with burglary, grand theft, two counts theft of firearms and grand theft from a person 65 years of age or older.
