Accident injures four

An accident Tuesday afternoon at the 73.4 mile marker sent two people to Mariner’s Hospital and sent two by helicopter to Miami’s Ryder Trauma Center. A white sport utility vehicle drove off the road at 4:20 p.m., into a mangrove area. There were four people inside the vehicle. Rescue workers extracted the patients from the vehicle. Traffic was rerouted around the crash site while Florida Highway Patrol investigated the case. The roadway was finally completely cleared of debris and opened to all traffic at 6:10 p.m. Call FHP for details of the accident investigation.
