Inmate dies of natural causes


A Monroe County jail inmate who was terminally ill and under hospice care while incarcerated, died of natural  causes early today.

40 year old Ramon Fidler was pronounced dead just before 2 a.m. in the Sick Bay unit of the Stock Island Detention Center.

Fidler was arrested May 22, 2012 after threatening someone with a knife at Independence Cay, the homeless shelter in Marathon. He was in jail on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and disorderly intoxication.
