House fire, Ramrod Key

Ramrod Key – A house and a motor home were destroyed by fire overnight on Ramrod Key.

Sheriff’s dispatchers received reports at 1:13 a.m. of  a fire on Anguila Lane at the 27.5 mile marker off Highway U.S. One. When deputies and firefighters arrived the found a house and a motorhome engulfed in flames. The evacuated several homes which were threatened by the fire.

The fire was reportedly under control an hour later, but fire units remained at the scene until 7 a.m. The American Red Cross was also notified and will be assisting the homeowner in any way they can.

The State Fire Marshall responded and will be looking into the cause of the fire. There were no injuries reported.
