Man arrested for lewd acts in the presence of an elderly person

Islamorada – An Islamorada man has been arrested, charged with performing a lewd act in the presence of an elderly woman.

The 65 year old victim called the Sheriff’s Office on July 30^th to report the incident. She said at the time, she was paying 51 year old Roy Drebenstedt to help her maintain the yard at her Islamorada home. She said on July 21^st, Drebenstedt asked to use her bathroom. She allowed him to use the bathroom. She said he was there for quite some time and when he came out, he was naked. She said he asked her for a towel because he said he took a shower. She said as he was asking for a towel, he was fondling himself in front of her.

She said she was so frightened, she threw some towels at him and locked herself in her bedroom. When she came out an hour later, he was gone.

Major Crimes Detective Daniel Mehler was assigned to investigate. He obtained a warrant for Drebenstedt’s arrest and today (Thursday) he was arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious exhibition in the presence of an elderly person and he was booked into jail.
