SWAT goes through specialized training

In September the Sheriff’s Office SWAT team hosted the Tactical Training Branch from the Multi jurisdictional Counter drug Task Force Training unit based out of Camp Blanding Joint Training Center in Stark, Florida. The instructors are all active members of the Florida Guard some of who have multiple combat deployments overseas in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Two instructors are active reserve law enforcement officers with tactical teams and all are current FDLE certified instructors who have trained thousands of tactical team members across the nation and the Caribbean.

The first day the SWAT Team was put through rigorous firearms training that included 13 hours on the range at Turkey Point Nuclear Power plant while wearing full tactical gear. The second day consisted of extensive close quarters battle techniques focusing on team movements inside structures. The third day consisted of a culmination of the prior two days of training with force on force focused on high-risk narcotics search warrant and hostage rescue scenarios. This training was provided free of charge by MCTFT Tactical.
