Teen charged with occupied burglary
Key Haven – An 18 year old Stock Island resident has been arrested, charged with breaking in to a Key Haven home in the middle of the night while the residents of the home were sleeping.
The victim told Deputy Spenser Bryan he woke up at 1:35 a.m. on September 13th when he heard a noise in his house, located on Allamanda Terrance in Key Haven, near the 5 mile marker of Highway U.S. One. Thinking it might be his daughter, he yelled her name. He then heard someone leaving the house.
When he went to check on the noise, he found a bicycle had been removed from the garage and had been left in the yard. He also found a pair of sunglasses in the garage that did not belong to anyone in his family.
A fingerprint taken from the sunglasses was identified by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement as belonging to 18 year old Rafael Quintana of Stock Island.
A warrant was issued for Quintana’s arrest and on Tuesday, he was charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling and grand theft. he was booked into the Monroe County Detention Center.
