Woman airlifted for stab wound
A 33 year old Islamorada woman was airlifted to the Ryder Trauma Center in Miami after being stabbed late Tuesday.
Detectives are investigating the incident and no arrests have yet been made, but the victim told Deputy Nestor Argote she was sleeping when the suspect, whom she is acquainted with, broke a rear window at her residence, located at 81979 Old Highway in Islamorada. She said he entered her bedroom and stabbed her in the chest. She said he then held the knife to her throat and asked her to leave the house with him.
As they were walking out the front door, a friend of hers was outside in the yard. She said when the suspect saw her friend, he ran northbound on the old highway.
The friend drove her to Mariner’s Hospital, where she was later airlifted for treatment of her injury. The investigation into the incident is continuing.
