Detective asks for help identifying identity theft suspects

Sheriff’s Detective Yunier Galvez is asking for help in identifying four suspects who used the identity of a Florida Keys resident to open credit card accounts in various south Florida department stores, then made purchases using the cards.

The four men are suspected of opening or attempting to open credit card accounts in the name of a Plantation Key man. The department stores included Bass Pro Shops, Kohls, Best Buy and Macys. They reportedly had his driver’s license number, social security number and other identifying information. The victim says he has no idea how they might have gotten that information.

Detective Galvez obtained security footage of the suspects and was able to isolate photos of their faces. Anyone who recognizes one or more of the suspects should contact the detective immediately at 305-852-3211. Callers who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers of the Florida Keys. If a tip leads to an arrest, the caller would be eligible for a cash reward. The Crime Stoppers hot line number is 1-800-346-TIPS. Tips may be submitted on line at
