Those planning to travel through that area on Saturday morning need to plan carefully. The bridge will close at 6:45 a.m. sharp and will not reopen until 9 a.m. There will be no exceptions made. If you are not across the bridge prior to 6:45 a.m., you will not be allowed to continue your trip until after the 9 a.m. opening.
“Give yourself plenty of extra time to make it across the bridge,” said Lower Keys Captain Gene Thompson. “Every year, we end up with people who don’t make it in time. We feel badly for those whose plans are interrupted, but there is always plenty of notice about the bridge run and, once we close it, we cannot allow anyone else to cross.”
