Man missing from Big Pine home

Note: I'm happy to report Mr. Hart was found, safe and sound, at 10:20 p.m. on Monday.

A 66 year old Big Pine Key man walked out of his home on Pine Lane Sunday night and hasn’t been seen since.

Patrick Hart walked out of the home at 11 p.m. and hasn’t yet returned. His wallet, car keys, money, glasses and cell phone are still at the home. His family told Deputy Todd Jones he has two bad knees and has trouble walking very far. He also has medical problems and takes medication, which he did not take with him.

He and his wife, Donna, work at Reef Light Tackle on Big Pine Key. She said she went to work this morning hoping he would be there, but he did not show up so she called the Sheriff’s Office.

Hart is a white male, five foot eight inches tall, medium build with short white hair. He was last seen wearing brown shorts, a white t-shirt and athletic shoes.

Sheriff’s deputies and detectives searched extensively today around his home, using search dogs and an all terrain vehicle. The water around the home was also searched.

Anyone who knows where Hart might be should contact the Sheriff’s Office immediately.
