Highway Interdiction Operation, Stock Island

Law Enforcement agencies participated this week in a highway interdiction operation on Stock Island. During the operation, Four people were arrested on drug related charges.

On Wednesday, officers conducted 48 traffic stops in the Stock Island area for traffic and safety violations. Those stops resulted in 19 traffic citations and 12 warnings. Twelve vehicles were searched using a police K-9 team, and four people were arrested on drug related charges.

The Sheriff’s Special Investigations Unit initiated the operation with the assistance of Homeland Security investigators, Florida Highway Patrol K-9 units and Monroe County HIDTA.

 The following people were arrested: 
  •         Yasbany Noa Parrado, 33 of Marathon was arrested for trafficking in cocaine after 30 grams of the illegal substance were found hidden on his body. 
  •         Joshua D. Levitt,  31 of  Fort Lauderdale was issued a notice to appear in court for possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. 
  •         Amado Cabrera, 28 of  Key West was issued a notice to appear in court for possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana.
  •         Christopher A. Montelius, 31, of Boynton Beach was issued a notice to appear in court for possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
