Man charged with vessel burglary

A Stock Island man has been arrested, charged with stealing fishing gear from a boat docked at Safe Harbor Marina on Stock Island.

The theft occurred sometime in the early morning hours on July 16th. The victim found four fishing rods and reels missing from his boat, which was docked overnight at the marina. The rods and reels were valued at approximately $1,600.

Video surveillance cameras in the area caught two men on camera stealing the rods and reels. One of the men was identified as 42 year old Felipe Fonseca of Stock Island. Detective Dave Chavka and Deputy Freddy Rodriguez confronted Fonseca with their evidence and he admitted to the theft, but refused to identify his accomplice.

A warrant was issued for his arrest. He was charged with burglary and grand theft. Investigations into the incident are continuing.
