Update: Boat stolen from Marathon home; Insurance Company offers $10,000 reward for information leading to return of vessel.

A 35 foot Intrepid boat was stolen August 19th from a boat lift behind a house on Bulevar De Palmas in Marathon. Detectives need the public’s assistance locating the stolen vessel.

The Insurance Company covering the loss, Harbor and Ocean Services Inc. of Fort Lauderdale,  is offering a reward of $10,000 for the safe return of the vessel.

The 35 foot Intrepid Cuddy Cabin is valued at an estimated $300,000. A neighbor noticed it missing and called the owner to ask him about it. The owner, who is in Illinois, told him no one had permission to have the boat, and asked him to call the Sheriff’s Office to report it as stolen.

Deputy Brad Colen responded and found the cover to the boat lift controls open and the lift lowered.

The vessel had twin Yamaha 300 horse power four stroke engines on it, along with a Garmin chart plotter and a radar system installed, as well as an autopilot system.

Detective Trevor Wirth is investigating the case.
