Loud noise leads to drug arrest

A complaint about noise coming from a residence on Gale Place in Key largo led to the arrest of a man on drug charges Saturday night.

Deputies Vaughn O’Keefe and Ian Barnett and Sgt. Sydney Whitehouse responded to 807 Gale Place after dispatchers received complaints about loud talking and music at 11:55 p.m. They found two women outside on a back patio. The back door was open. Sgt. Whitehouse looked inside and saw a man later identified as 23 year old Ezra Jimenez stuffing a plastic container into some couch cushions, as if trying to hide something.

Two other men were also inside the house. Everyone was asked to come outside where the deputies could speak with them.

A “bong” – a water pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana – was found on an outside table, along with a grinder and a quantity of marijuana. A resident of the house agreed to allow deputies to search inside. Marijuana, cocaine and a number of different prescription medications were found in various areas, including hidden in couch cushions and in a backpack belonging to Jimenez.

Interviews with all present, as well as investigations, revealed the drugs belonged to Jimenez. He was placed under arrest. He was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, two counts possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia. A number of unknown substances were seized as evidence and will be sent to a lab for analysis. More charges may be pending.
