The victim told Deputy James Hager his neighbor, 59 year old Arnold Riggs sold him a boat for $500. He said he became angry with Riggs after he realized the engine was bad.
The victim confronted Riggs about the engine just before 7 p.m. at Riggs residence on 82nd Street Ocean in Marathon. The victim – who had another person with him at the time – said he yelled at Riggs and told him to remove the boat from his property.
Both the victim and the witness who was with him told Deputy Hager Riggs pulled out a small silver colored handgun and threatened to kill the victim with it. They both were able to describe the gun in detail.
Riggs denied pointing a gun at them. He was found, however, to have a small silver handgun in his vehicle. The gun he had in his vehicle – a loaded Smith and Wesson .32 caliber revolver - matched the one described by the victim and witness.Riggs was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and he was taken to jail.
