Missing man, wanted by police in Miami, may have jumped from bridge

A man who is currently listed as missing, and who is wanted by Miami-Dade police for sexual battery, may have jumped from the Card Sound Bridge early this morning.

The last time anyone heard from 38 year old James Dzadura of Homestead he sent a text message to a relative. In the message he said he was on the Card Sound Bridge with a 40 pound weight tied to him and he was going to jump from the bridge.

When the Sheriff’s Office responded to the bridge just before 1 a.m., Deputy Tim Hunsberger and Sgt. Syd Whitehouse found a mini van belonging to Dzadura parked at the bridge with the keys in the ignition. A wallet, a 40 pound dumbbell weight, and other items were inside the unlocked vehicle. Miami-Dade police detectives responded to assist. When they walked the bridge, they found a cell phone belonging to Dzadura on the railing of the bridge about halfway up the east side.

Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the U.S. Coast Guard and a boat from Ocean Reef Public Safety all responded and searched the area by water with no result. The search was called off around 4 a.m. but the Coast Guard remained in the area searching this morning. The Sheriff’s dive team is searching the area this morning as well.
