Carey will fill the post of Islamorada Station Commander, taking the place of Lt. Derek Paul who will be moving to the same position in Marathon. Lt. Alberto Ramirez will move from his current post in the Special Investigations Division to the position of Upper Keys Station Commander at the Roth Building on Plantation Key. He takes the place of Lt. Mitch Horn who is moving to fill a position vacancy in the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area group in Miami.

Newly promoted Captain Bruce Winegarden will fill in as District Commander in Marathon for Captain Gene Thompson who will be attending the upcoming FBI National Law Enforcement Academy for the next several months. Working under him will be Lt. Paul.

Shortly after Captain Thompson is scheduled to return, Captain Winegarden will be retiring. At that point, the command team in Marathon will consist of Captain Thompson and Lt. Paul.

The two vacant detective sergeant positions have been posted internally and will be filled in due course.
