"Skeletal remains" turn out to be hoax
The Sheriff's Office and Florida Fish and Wildlife officers responded to reports of a body underwater offshore of the 7 mile bridge this morning at 11 a.m.. The "body" turned out to be a fake skeleton.
A Georgia man was diving with his buddy when he spotted what he thought was a body. He called the Sheriff's Office to report it.
Deputy Wilfredo Guerra responded by water, along with two FWC officers. Initial reports were the body had it's feet tied together, and it was anchored to a pole of some sort.
A diver recovered the "body" which turned out to be a fake skeleton. The skeleton was removed from the water so there would not be any such reports in the future.
