Man charged with business burglary

A Marathon man is in jail, charged with stealing an entire prime rib roast from his former employer, Tarpon Creek Bar and Grill in Marathon.

The crime was reported September 12th. Deputy Rosary Ponce responded to the restaurant and spoke with the manager. The manager said another employee told her a prime rib roast had disappeared from where it was stored, in a walk in cooler. A surveillance video of the outside of the cooler showed 54 year old Frederick Jones taking the roast. She recognized him as an employee who used to work for the business.

A warrant was issued for Jones arrest on charges if burglary and theft. Today Sgt. Chuck Kellenberger found Jones at the Marathon Post Office and placed him under arrest. He was booked into jail.
