Sheriff's trespass program

Sgt. Mike DiGiovanni met with the manager of the Dollar Tree in Islamorada, Jarvin Perez and convinced him to join the Sheriff’s Office Trespass program.

Posting a special sign (as seen in the picture) on a commercial property grants the Sheriff’s Office permission to issue a trespass warning to anyone a deputy finds there who doesn’t belong. This saves the property owner from having to respond and issue a warning him or herself.

Once a warning is issued, if the trespasser is found there again, he or she can be arrested for trespass after warning.

Anyone interested in this program can contact any Sheriff’s Office substation and ask about it. It is a terrific crime prevention tool.
