Conversation helps bring kids, law enforcement closer
A “Bridging the GAAP” conversation held at Marathon High School recently. GAAP stands for Gaining Appreciation by Adjusting Perspectives. The conversation was organized by the Department of Juvenile Justice and attended by DJJ, the Sheriff’s Office and area young people. Its aim was to bring law enforcement and youth together to discuss key issues of concern between the two groups. The hope is by having such a dialogue, we can reduce youth arrests and reduce minority over representation in the juvenile justice system.
