A man who committed a sexual battery on a young child in Oregon failed to register in that state when he was released from prison so a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was arrested Tuesday in Islamorada and will be returned to Oregon to face charges.
The U.S. Marshals Service contacted the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit because they had information 49 year old Stephan Brewer might be in the Islamorada area. On Tuesday, at noon, he was taken into custody by detectives at a convenience store at the 81.6 mile marker of the highway.
Brewer has an outstanding warrant in Oregon for violation of his parole because he failed to register as a sexual offender when he was released from prison.
