Deputy needs help identifying credit card fraud suspect

Deputy Nick Whiteman says he needs help identifying a credit card fraud suspect operating in the Marathon area.

On April 30th, Deputy Whiteman responded to the Publix in Marathon and met with the store manager. She told him she suspects a male who has been in the store several times over the past couple of months is using stolen or fake credit cards.

She told Deputy Whiteman uses the cards to buy cartons of cigarettes. On this particular occasion, there were three transactions. One was declined, then approved when he used another card.

Photos were captured of him by surveillance cameras in the store. Deputy Whiteman is hoping someone will recognize him from the photos and call us with his identity so we can further investigate.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, tall and muscular with tattoos on both arms. Anyone with information about this person should contact the Sheriff’s Office. Callers may also contact Crime Stoppers of the Florida Keys. Tipsters can remain anonymous and, if a tip leads to an arrest in the case, the caller would be eligible for a cash reward. The Crime Stoppers hot line number is 1-800-346-TIPS. Tips may also be submitted on line at www.tipsubmit.com or via a text message to 274637 using the keyword TIP136.
