Sheriff Rick Ramsay announced Tuesday the Sheriff’s Office returned or will be returning $2,502,538 in excess funds that it did not spend in the last fiscal year to several Keys governments.
“We strive to be good stewards of taxpayers’ money,” said
Sheriff Rick Ramsay. “The Sheriff’s Office will continue to use funds wisely
while still providing professional and effective service to our residents and
visitors alike.”
Sheriff Ramsay announced that $2,003,219 will be returned to
Monroe County, $230,269 will be returned to the Village of Islamorada, $145,706
to the City of Marathon and $123,342 to the Key West International Airport.
The Sheriff’s Office traditionally returns these excess
funds every year, which helps the county government and other public
organizations reduce taxes for the next fiscal year.
