Bank Robbery on Stock Island


Stock Island – Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a bank robbery at a branch of First State Bank on Maloney Avenue, Stock Island.

At 11 a.m. today, a man walked in to the bank and demanded money from one of the tellers. She complied with his request and he left on foot in an unknown direction of travel. The white male suspect was wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, with the hood pulled up and long blue jeans. His face was covered with a black ski mask, and he was wearing white colored latex gloves. Witnesses said he had bright blue eyes and spoke with an accent. He did not display any weapons during the robbery.

A detective was on the scene within four minutes, but a search of the vicinity did not result in an apprehension of the suspect. The lead investigator on the case is Detective Donald Catala.

  1. I bet it's not hard to figure out a place is going to be robbed when someone walks in dressed like that in the Florida Keys huh? LOL Don't they have security guards near the doors of banks anymore?
