A
man and woman were arrested Thursday on drug charges following a traffic stop near
Mile Marker 10.
Eva Maria Perez, 25, of Key West, was charged with resisting arrest, possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia, and destruction of evidence. She also had a warrant for larceny.
Jesus Perez, 23, of Key West, was charged with resisting arrest. He also had a warrant for violation of probation.
The
Sheriff’s Office stopped a Nissan sport utility vehicle at approximately 7:43
p.m. for failure to stop at a stop sign. Jesus Perez fled on foot. Eva Perez
remained at the scene with two others who were not arrested in the incident. Eva
Perez began dropping drugs on the ground when she got out of the vehicle.
Jesus Perez was caught in the water on the Gulfside.
A total of 3.5 grams of MDMA and
multiple rocks of cocaine were found in Eva Perez's possession as well as a pipe that
field-tested positive for cocaine.
