Marathon man severely injured in fight

Marathon – A Marathon man was treated at Fishermen’s Hospital for severe injuries sustained in a fight Friday night.

Deputy Mark Jones responded to Sombrero Beach Boulevard at 11:30 p.m. to reports a bloody man was trying to flag down motorists. When he arrived, he found the victim, 49 year old Hans Pfab. Pfab was covered in blood and appeared to have been beaten. Paramedics transported him to the hospital.

Nearby, Sgt. Joel Slough found a broken beer bottle and a razor knife with blood on them.

Later, at the hospital, Pfab told Deputy Jones he was at the beach and spoke to a “young, cute girl”. He said three men with her became upset with him. He said they followed him when he left the beach; he said a confrontation ensued and the three men beat him, punching and kicking him in the face and head.

Detectives were assigned to investigate the case.
