National Telecommunicators Week is coming up!
April 8th - 14th is National Telecommunicators week - a week set aside to appreciate and thank Public Safety Dispatchers. Mark your calendar and, during that special week, take time out to thank a dispatcher, take a dispatcher to lunch, send a dispatcher flowers or a food tray. Let them know how much you appreciate what they do.
Dispatchers are the first person many people have contact with in an emergency; they help to calm those who are panicked, help people work through medical issues, and do so much more. You seldom see them in the newspaper or on television, but they are so important to the whole field of Public Safety.
If you are a law enforcement officer, firefighter or paramedic you in particular, know how much dispatchers do. They give you the information you need to get where you are going quickly when necessary; they keep track of you when you are in a potentially dangerous situation and get you help when you need it.
Take the opportunity sometime between April 8th and the 14th to tell them thank you. They do so much and get so little recognition for it.
