Weekend traffic delays

There are several events which will be causing traffic delays this coming weekend.

·         On Saturday, April 1st the Seven Mile Bridge Run will shut down traffic both north and south for two and a half hours at the Seven Mile Bridge. Travelers should plan to be across the bridge by 6:30 a.m. to avoid being stuck on one side or the other. Traffic flow will resume at 9 a.m., but usually takes at least an hour after that to get back to normal flow. Please plan any travel accordingly and please be patient during the traffic disruption.

·         Also coming up this weekend, Island Fest at Founders Park in Islamorada will take place from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.

·         On Sunday between the hours of 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. a fundraiser will take place in the area of the 84 mile marker.

Islamorada traffic is heavy and slow on a good day, so these two events will most likely cause even more delays in the Islamorada area.

Deputies will be working all three events in an effort to minimize delays, however people traveling through any of these areas during these times should plan extra time to get where they need to go.
