A 41-year-old Miami man was given a mandatory notice to
appear in court citation Sunday night after he was found to be in possession of
undersized Mangrove and Lane Snappers.
Valentin Del Carmen was cited for six undersized Mangrove
Snapper and two undersized Lane Snapper. He was given a warning for possessing
no fishing license.
Deputy Ana Coello was on patrol about 8 p.m. at Library Park
Beach at Mile Marker 81 in Islamorada when she saw a man, later identified as
Carmen, fishing. Carmen did not have a fishing license. Carmen also did not
have a measuring tool.
Deputy Coello inspected Carmen’s bucket.
All six of the Mangrove Snapper in his possession were under
the legal size limit of 10 inches.
He also possessed two Lane Snapper also under the legal size
limit of eight inches.
All the undersized fish were returned to the water dead.
