A 38-year-old Marathon man was arrested Sunday for stealing
approximately $500 in tools from the Marathon Marina & Boatyard.
Adolfo Antelo-Prieto was charged with burglary and resisting
arrest.
More charges could be pending as other burglaries in
the area are under investigation.
The Sheriff’s Office responded to the marina on 11th
Street at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. A marina employee stated she confronted the
suspect, later identified as Antelo-Prieto, and he dropped some tools before
fleeing on a bicycle. That witness gave Deputy Paul McNalley a description of
the suspect.
The suspect was then seen on security video returning to the
shop about 9:42 p.m. that same night and is seen taking the same tools he
dropped earlier.
Sgt. Christian Kellenberger was in the Ocean Breeze Trailer
Park on 15th Street at 9:23 a.m. Sunday when he saw a bicycle
matching the description of the suspect bicycle. Sgt. Kellenberger as well as
Deputies McNalley and Darrel Walraven knocked on a nearby trailer and then
heard a commotion. A male, matching the description of the suspect, was seen
climbing on the roof of the trailer. He ignored commands to stop and jumped
over a barbed wire fence onto Galway Bay Mobile Home Park property.
The suspect was then taken into custody by Deputy William
Daniels who also responded.
When questioned, Antelo-Prieto stated it was he in the
security video taken at the marina. The marina employee also identified
Antelo-Prieto as the suspect.
Antelo-Prieto was taken to jail.
