A 47-year-old Marathon man was arrested early Sunday morning
for driving more than 100 mph on U.S. 1.
William Earl Chase Paslay was charged with DUI and reckless
driving.
The incident began at 2 a.m. when Sgt. Robert Dosh issued a
be-on-the-lookout for a southbound maroon pickup truck speeding from roughly
Mile Marker 83.5.
Deputy Corbin Hradecky was conducting traffic enforcement
near Mile Marker 61 when he observed a southbound Ford F-150® pickup truck
traveling 103 mph in a 55 mph zone. Deputy Hradecky performed a traffic stop.
Paslay stated he was in hurry to get to Key West. Paslay
stated he had consumed six beers.
A passenger in the truck was not arrested.
Paslay was taken to jail.
