The Sheriff’s Office is looking
for two men who threatened to kidnap and kill a Key Largo convenience store
employees and their families Wednesday night.
There were no injuries reported.
The victim and one other witness
in the store described the incident as follows:
Two, unidentified, unarmed,
white male suspects entered the Chevron gas station, 106200 Overseas Highway,
at 7:52 p.m. and told the victim (store clerk) they needed to speak to the
store manager. The clerk stated the store manager was not present. One of the
suspects responded that the store manager owes him money and then demanded all
the money in the cash register.
The clerk refused to give them
the money. One of the suspects then stated they would kidnap and kill her as
well as kidnap the store manager’s children if they were not paid the money
allegedly owed. The clerk refused. The men then walked to the back of the store
where the manager’s office is located and knocked on the door. They then left
the store.
Deputies and Detectives reviewed
the store security camera footage, which showed the men enter the store, point
at the clerk while conversing with her and then leave the store in a white Ford
van covered with “Dirty Hooker” decals. The van left the property driving
southbound on U.S. 1.
• Suspect one was described as being between 5-foot and
5-foot-8, stalky with dirty blonde hair and light blue eyes. He was wearing a
navy blue T-shirt and blue jeans.
• Suspect two was described as being taller than 5-foot-8
with a beard. He wore a black, long-sleeved T-shirt, a black hat and blue
jeans.
