A 22-year-old Big Pine Key man was arrested Thursday after
he was found to be in possession of stolen drivers licenses from five different
states and five different social security cards.
Chandler Michael Dolowy was charged with eight counts of
possession of a stolen divers license or identification card, fraud or
impersonation by possessing personal identification information, possession of
more than 20 grams of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
Deputies Juan Carlos Marino and Aaron Roddy were on routine
patrol on Big Pine Key at 9:20 a.m. when he saw an Audi parked behind the
Winn-Dixie near the loading dock. It is not typical for private vehicles to be
parked there. The driver was identified as Dolowy. He was the sole occupant.
Dolowy stated he worked at Winn-Dixie, but was trying to hide from his manager
so he could take a longer break. The Deputies noted a strong smell of marijuana
and shake marijuana all over the front passenger seat and floor board. Dolowy
stated he had a marijuana cigarette in the center console and a “grinder” with
some marijuana inside as well.
A search of the car turned up a small box with multiple
drivers licenses, IDs and social security cards inside, none of which belonged
to Dolowy. About 27 grams total of marijuana was also found in the car.
Dolowy admitted to stealing all
but one of the IDs from the Norfolk, Virginia area and the one ID from the
Elkhart, Indiana area. Dolowy said he was homeless at the time and steal
whatever he could from unlocked vehicles.
• The drivers licenses included one from Texas, one from New
York, one from California, four from Virginia and one from Illinois.
• Five social security cards were found
• One Utah concealed carry firearm permit
• One U.S. military identification card
All the cards were placed into property for further
investigation.
Dolowy was taken to jail.
