A 32-year-old Florida City man was arrested Thursday
afternoon for stealing more than $20,000 from a former employer.
Adam Ibrahim Moore was charged with grand theft.
The president of Seaway Plumbing® in Key Largo met with the
Sheriff’s Office on Nov. 6. The president stated a former employee, Moore,
stole a large amount of money over the past year-and-a-half. The president
explained Moore previously was in charge of the payroll department and used
that position to pay himself extra money beginning in May 2018. The president
stated that Moore previously received a vehicle maintenance bonus every month
until May 2018 when he was provided a company car. The maintenance bonus
payments to Moore should have ceased at that time, but did not.
Detective Edward Askins determined $21,200 was embezzled by
Moore.
Moore’s termination on Oct. 25, 2015 was videotaped by the
business and its general counsel. Moore admitted to the theft in that video.
Moore did not return Detective Askins’ phone calls. A
warrant was issued for his Moore.
More was booked into jail on Thursday.
