Deputies were called to Boca Chica Road on Geiger Key at
approximately 8:52 a.m. Monday after a Little Torch Key man reportedly shot
himself near the waterline.
Deputies arrived at the end of the road to find 56-year-old
Gregory Scott Kavanagh of the 28000 block of Channel View Drive, deceased. A
handgun was found near Kavanagh.
Several people reported hearing a gunshot in the area and
found Kavanagh on the beach.
Foul play is not suspected at this time.
Autopsy reports are pending.
