A 37-year-old Marathon man was arrested Tuesday night
following a check fraud investigation that began in July.
Michael Robert Gray was charged with nine counts of
counterfeiting a bill or check, nine counts of fraud, one count of burglary and
one count of larceny.
Gray is accused of entering a co-worker’s Marathon home in
July and stealing a checkbook belonging to his co-worker’s friend.
That friend stated she knew Gray, but never gave him
permission to enter her home or take her checks.
Gray then wrote nine checks to himself for a total of $4,845
between July 15 and July 17.
Warrants were obtained for Gray’s arrest.
He was booked into jail on Tuesday.
There may be more victims in the case and more charges could
be pending.
